Dr. Moyer of Moyer Total Wellness, contributed key medical testimony that helped pass the Colorado Wellness Law which bans trans fats in Colorado Schools. This is an incredible step forward to improve the wellness of our nation, the health of our children, and in combatting obesity, which effects over 1/3 of Americans.
Back pain ranks among the most common problems that bring people to chiropractors. In fact, one out of every three people who suffer from low back pain seeks chiropractic care, making it the most utilized healthcare practice outside of conventional medicine.
Chiropractic spinal manipulation has now had about three decades of very active research, and hundreds of studies have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals examining its clinical usefulness. Spinal manipulation has been found to be effective in the treatment of low back pain (particularly chronic pain), neck pain, muscle tension headaches, and several other conditions. Performed properly, it can relieve musculoskeletal discomfort with little to no side effects, improve the blood circulation, and relieve stress on the nervous system.
Chiropractic care should be a part of all phases of treatment for back pain. There are three types of care offered at Moyer Total Wellness: acute care, corrective care, and wellness care. Acute care is used to reduce painful joint conditions, much like a person would use an aspirin. Corrective care and wellness care are combined with massage therapy and home exercises to stretch tight muscles and strengthen weak muscles. Because Doctors of Chiropractic aim to restore proper joint structure and function, chiropractic is the best choice for corrective care. Wellness care is any type of care that used to prevent disease. Much like going to a dentist to prevent tooth decay, getting regular spinal checkups is the best way to prevent joint dysfunction. It is recommended that individuals not in pain see their chiropractor once per month. (Research shows that individuals who see their chiropractor every 2.8 – 4.1 weeks are least likely suffer from early onset of arthritis and other joint related disorders.) Dr. Moyer also uses fitness, nutrition, and stress recommendations as part of his wellness care treatment plans.
Experts from WebMD recently listed massage therapy as one of the top remedies for stress relief, but their panel of experts were quick to point to research that shows massage therapy can be effective for a variety of conditions, including high blood pressure and other cardiovascular disorders, chronic fatigue, sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, peptic ulcers, and poor immune function.
Like a fine bottle of wine that gets better over time, the same is true of massage therapists. The more experience and training a massage therapist has, the better the massage they give. Research proves that massage is effective for relieving aching muscles and there is nothing more relaxing than an 80-minute massage session with an experienced massage therapist. At our wellness center, you will know from the moment the massage therapist puts their hands on you that you are about to get a fantastic therapeutic massage.
A complete holistic approach to restoring health and preventing disease, this natural health care system provides relief from chronic and acute conditions. Oriental Medicine offers early diagnosis and can often reverse disease in its formative stages. It has been a gentle yet powerfully effective form of medicine for thousands of years.

“I first tried chiropractic because I felt something was out of place in my neck. After receiving regular chiropractic care, I soon realized that my migraine medication began piling up in my medicine cabinet. I used to suffer from debilitating migraine headaches, several times per month. Now, simply visiting Moyer Total Wellness every 3 weeks allows me to enjoy life, migraine-free! Prenatal Massage is the most under-rated method for helping women during their pregnancies. Getting a massage while pregnant can reduce stress and relieve pain associated with muscle tension. Additionally, research shows that massage can improve lymph drainage (reduce swelling) and have a balancing effect on glands – both of which are a huge benefit during pregnancy. Expectant mothers experience unique physical and emotional changes that occur as a result of increased weight, shifting posture, and adjusting hormone levels – all of which may result in physical discomfort and stress. Prenatal massage is a natural therapy aimed at alleviating pregnancy related symptoms.
Muscle tension and stress decrease the nutrient absorption and slow down toxin elimination – both of which are crucial for healthy, normal cells. And, when in the process of developing a baby, those two aspects become vital for ensuring a healthy pregnancy. Maternity massage can provide an opportunity to allow outside stresses to slip away for a period, thereby allowing the cells to receive the nutrients they need and rid themselves of harmful toxins.
At Moyer Total Wellness, our experienced massage therapists choose techniques that are safe and effective for pregnant women*. Every massage is personalized to meet your therapeutic needs. The benefits of prenatal massage include:
- Reduces stress and anxiety
- Eases joint pain caused by muscular tension and shift in posture to accommodate increasing abdominal weight
- Releases endorphins
- Helps facilitate lymph drainage and increases circulation
- Promotes muscle and skin elasticity that can help reduce stretch marks
- Minimizes spider veins
- Improves digestion
- Reduces fatigue
Moyer Total Wellness also recommends omega-3 fish oil as well as choline, in addition to eating a healthy diet and taking a prenatal multi-vitamin during pregnancy. If you have questions about how to ensure a healthy pregnancy, we offer a free consultation with Dr. Moyer.
