Jack LaLanne, America’s 96-year-old godfather of fitness, passed away on Sunday from respiratory failure due to pneumonia. Jack LaLanne gained worldwide recognition for his success as a chiropractor and bodybuilder, and for his incredible and prodigious acts of strength and endurance.
That’s right, Dr. LaLanne started his career as a chiropractor and he is one of my personal idols. His brand of chiropractic is nearly identical to mine. Start with fitness and nutrition, and support the body as it changes with chiropractic care.
LaLanne was truly a pioneer, as he studied Henry Gray’s Anatomy of the Human Body and concentrated on bodybuilding, chiropractic medicine, and weightlifting, something virtually unheard of in the 1930s. In 1936 LaLanne opened his own health spa in Oakland, CA, and dedicated his life to encouraging people to better themselves through exercise and fitness. LaLanne designed the world’s first leg extension machines, pulley machines using cables, and weight selectors, now a standard in the fitness industry.
But, Dr. LaLane’s work will live on here at Moyer Total Wellness. We recommend sound nutrition principles, interest our clients in proper fitness techniques, and support the posture of the human frame through massage and chiropractic care.
If you are interested in learning more about what we do, we recommend starting with the Wellness Exam. This is a comprehensive look at your posture including determining which muscles are tight and which muscles are weak. Additionally, we cover your lifestyle and then put together a wellness plan for you.
Jack LaLanne was the original father of the health movement that later blossomed into a national push to lead healthier lifestyles. In memory of Jack LaLanne, here are some of his past accomplishments, the impact he had on the world of television, and some of his most famous quotes.

Jack Lananne walked the walk when it came to being fit and staying healthy. He built two gyms and a pool at his home in Morro Bay, and began each day, into his 90s, with two hours of workouts: weight lifting followed by a swim against an artificial current or in place, tied to a belt. What an inspiration he was to us all!
Great info, thanks. I would just to mention that even the Mayo clinic says that vigorous exercise while pregnant can be very beneficial.
I am recovering from an accident so I began weight lifting to strengthen my muscles. I was struggling with back and joint problems so began going to chiropractic care. The chiropractor has helped me with my pain which has in turn improved my ability to weight lift. I’d recommend chiropractic care to anyone.
