Research shows massage can lower blood pressure and improve immune function

Recently published research by the National Institutes of Health shows that Swedish massage performed by a licensed massage therapist can create positive biological changes as measured through blood tests.

In this study, Swedish massage was shown to lower a hormone responsible for raising blood pressure – with the net effect of lowering blood pressure. Also, specific blood proteins related to the immune system were shown to decrease – with a net effect of improving the immune system.
