What is Acupuncture?

The practice of Acupuncture involves stimulating specific points along the channels of the body with tiny sterile needles. Using a needle to stimulate these points, we are able to access and manipulate the body’s Qi, often translated to “energy”.

The concept of Qi can be thought of as the vital force that flows through our bodies and drives all function, down to a cell and molecular level. Although we might not be able to measure it, we can certainly feel it.

It is believed that when the bodies Qi and other vital substance are in balance, health is maintained. Disease is the result of internal imbalance, and using Acupuncture, we hope to bring the patient’s body back into balance so that health can be maintained.

What Does It Do?

Generally speaking, Acupuncture does three primary things, that allows it to treat so many diseases:

  • Acupuncture relieves pain.
  • Acupuncture reduces inflammation.
  • Acupuncture restores homeostasis

What Can It Treat?

Acupuncture can be used to treat or relieve symptoms from many common complaints, including but not limited to:

  • Musculoskeletal pain/ injury
  • Headaches
  • Digestion issues (diarrhea, constipation, IBS, SIBO)
  • Emotional tension (anxiety, depression, trauma)
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Sleep problems
  • And much more…
