Heather DeWitt, LMT
Hi, I’m Heather DeWitt, LMT. Born and raised in Colorado, I’ve always had a flair for the arts. Out of high school I attended the Colorado Institute of Art where I graduated with an Associates of Applied Sciences degree in Graphic Design. I also hold a diploma from Platt College in Electronic Prepress and Computer Graphics. My training as an artist proved to be lucrative, landing a job with Denver’s largest newspaper, The Denver Post, but after four short years I found myself struggling with being just another cog in the wheel of big business. I desperately needed a change.
In 2001 I left the crazy world of newspaper politics behind to enjoy a more quiet existence, making the decision to attend The Center of Advanced Therapeutics 600 Hour Soft Tissue program, in Denver, where I graduated in October 2003 and began my career as a Massage Therapist, working for myself within a small gym in the Greenwood Village area. In essence, I traded one art form for another. Since then I have worked everywhere from personal training studios and spa settings to chiropractic and physical therapy offices. I am so proud and extremely honored to now be a part of Moyer Total Wellness!
Massage has kept me very busy over the past 15 years. It has been a true road to self discovery, on so many levels. It has opened my eyes to the reality that the human body is one amazing machine and has motivated me to want to help everyone achieve optimum health through natural healing. Complimenting my massage practice, I attended courses taught by a local Denver herbalist in 2011. Intrigued by my training in the art of iridology and the study of holistic nutrition, I have adopted a new relationship with food as well as mind-body wellness. It has lead me to the daily practice of yoga and meditation, allowing me to drastically reprogram my own life.
In my spare time you’ll find me outdoors as much as possible hiking a 14-er, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, traveling the world, and I am an avid reader of any, and all, books regarding the human body, mind and soul. I look forward to crossing off a “bucket list” trip to Peru, in the near future, to engage with Native American healers who heal the body through the use of plant based medicines, spiritual practices and ancient healing traditions. This is the type of healer I aspire to be.
Making the decision to pursue bodywork as a career has made a wonderful difference in my life. Touch therapy has proven to be a very rewarding and fulfilling experience. I hope to pass along my knowledge and great appreciation of the human form to all of you; hoping that you, too, will make the conscious decision to take care of what’s most important, yet so often overlooked – ourselves.
