Migraines

Overview
Migraines can be very painful and can hinder your ability to work, participate in daily activities, or even your ability to simply leave the house. Widely believed to just be a headache, migraines are actually a neurological disease that exhibits a multitude of symptoms. According to the National Headache Foundation, more than 29.5 million Americans suffer from migraines.

Migraines are often highly painful and are a collection of symptoms such as light sensitivity, vomiting, dizziness, and nausea in addition to a throbbing headache.

Massage Therapy
Stress is a heavy culprit in the cause of a migraine. Massage therapy can help reduce tight neck and shoulder muscles as well as muscles at the back of the head. Before a migraine attack has occurred massage therapy can help reduce pain by increasing blood flow to these areas. Once a migraine attack has occurred massage (specific acupressure points) and ice therapy have proven to be effective in relieving stress and or the pain of an existing migraine. Tony Chilelli, our most experienced massage therapist, has developed, Migraine Relief Therapy, which is very effective at reducing the severity and frequency of migraine headaches..

Chiropractic Care
Spinal manipulation therapy by a chiropractor has been shown to help treat migraine headaches in a series of clinical trials. A review of nine studies showed that chiropractic care worked as well as medication in preventing tension headaches and migraines. Spinal manipulation can relieve pressure placed on spinal disks and nerves. Prevent and manage migraines and headaches by scheduling your chiropractic appointment today.
